Carving Pumpkins & Trick-or-Treatin'

CARVING PUMPKINS

We carved pumpkins Sunday night. Sadie drew the face of the jack-o-lantern and Brian did an awesome job on the carving. It was probably the scariest pumpkin we had. 

Whenever Brian, Sadie or Emmy are concentrating their tongues stick out. It must be genetic :) 

 Brian is so awesome and cleaned out six pumpkins for us. I hate that part! Our garden produced 16 pumpkins and we narrowed it down to the top six to carve.

 

I tried keeping Emmy included in the festivities by giving her stickers to put on the pumpkins, but she thought it was more fun to poke the top of a pumpkin with one of the carving tools.

Halloween

Sadie had a party at school where she got to dress up. Then at dance class they had a special class and gave each other treats and showed off their costumes. I love her little pirouette! She was feeling really pretty!

Our traditional Halloween dinner - chili and cornbread. We decided to add baked potatoes to the mix this year. It was delicious!

 This was Emmy's first year of real trick-or-treating and we went to the first house and she broke down crying. I thought she wanted to eat the piece of candy, so I opened it and that made her so mad. After going to the second house she understood what was going on and was happy as can be.

 

  

Sadie did more playing than eating with her candy. Here she is giving each of her dolls a piece. Silly Sadie!

Random October Happenings

Ward Halloween Party -  The girls had their faces painted and the next day at church everyone had remnants of whatever design was on their face the night before because the paint dyed their skin. Never had that happen before. 

 Preschool - Sadie went on a field trip to the pumpkin patch and fire station. She felt really special getting ready for school and getting her backpack all ready.

Field Trip - I forgot she was going to the Pumpkin Patch this day and I had to throw the first hat and coat I saw on her last minute, so she kind of looks like a bum. She was so excited about the pumpkin she picked out and looking at this picture it was the smallest pumpkin there! It was probably also the most squishy!

Library -  We went to a special Halloween story night at the library. This picture has the worst lighting ever...oh well!

Birthday Party -  Sadie had a mean swing at her friends birthday party.

 Date Night - Brian and I went to a fun couples Halloween party. We played a game with crackers and lost miserably, but still had an fun time hanging out with friends and each other.

 ISU Halloween Party - The girls loved the crafts, got to pick out a book, Sadie had tarot cards read, and I won a sweet gift basket with a free massage and a bunch of Scentsy products.

Halloween Playgroup Party - The girls loved sticking pins and buttons onto pumpkins. I will have to do this again with them next year.

All Five of Us!

I promised Brian this would be the last family photoswap we did until after Baby #3 comes... Yep that is right. I haven't posted it yet (even though a lot of you already know), but we are PREGNANT! And due May 15th. I have an apointment tomorrow and I am going to beg for an ultrasound, so I can have a picture of my cute little baby. The first apt. I was seven weeks along, so my baby looked like a dot. Not the most exciting picture to share. 

I just started to feel little kicks when I am lying down and I have officially popped out within the last few days. I can still suck it in for pictures (like this one), but this bump is here to stay for awhile and we couldn't be happier!

Colorado Springs

In October we went to Colorado Springs for our little niece Jaylee Rae's baby blessing. It is so nice to have sister-in-laws that are on tops of things. The only pictures I took were a few of the girls on the airplane. That was my weekend off from taking pictures. So this first pic is from Neesha's blog.

This one is from my point and shoot... Sadie & Emmy LOVE & ADORE their cousins and entertained the girls pretty much the entire weekend. It was wonderful!

Day 11 - Going Home

We had some time to kill on our last day in California, so we went and walked/played around the San Diego Temple. It is so gorgeous! Maybe one of the prettiest temples I have ever seen. The foliage was also amazing! I love when these two have a sister moment!

 

We had a lovely time together on our trip and it is fun to talk to Sadie about Disneyland and all her favorite rides because she remembers everything like it was yesterday. Brian and I want to come back to San Diego in the future and go deep sea fishing, and find some better seafood restaurants soon. Can't wait!

Day 10 - San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo was my second most favorite part of our trip (right after Disneyland). I loved the landscaping all around the zoo. It was so tropical and green. I felt like we were in Hawaii, but surrounded by a lot of cool animals that would probably eat us if they were in cages.

 

This was a fun day for both of the girls.

 

Emmy especially thought the snakes were fascinating. 

  I was most excited to see the elephants!

 I figured Sadie's hair do was fitting for a wild day at the zoo!

 Three baboons were playing right up against the window with a burlap sack. They kept hitting each other and it was so fun to watch.

 We spent a lot of time in these little rooms trying to find what was hidden in each window. The two-headed snake was probably the coolest.

 That night we wanted to eat at a really good seafood restaurant and I kept using yelp.com to figure out where to eat. That site failed me too many times on this trip. I don't recommend it! It is still kinda fun to read what people wrote though, but my taste buds must be WAY different than the people that write reviews on there. I can't remember what the place was called, but it had the most amazing selection of sushi I had ever seen. There were about six sushi chefs going to town making everything as fast as they could. 

 Sadie really enjoyed picking out whatever she wanted. That included a lot of desserts.

Day 9 - Coronado Beach

We had a nice beach day at Coronado. We drove to a few stores to find sand toys and couldn't find them anywhere (so weird for a beachtown!) So we ended up using everything we could find at a local McDonald's. Spoons, cups, bowls, straws. It was a very ghetto beach day but the girls loved it!

Brian and Sadie collected so many sand dollars and we managed to bring home a bag of them unbroken. Now what to do with them. I think some sort of craft with Sadie.

We spent a lot of time swimming and hot tubbing on our trip.

That night we went back to Seaport Village for dinner and to walk around. Love that place!
