Out & About

firstouting

For Emmy's first outing we went to the Apple Athletics Club Saturday morning and pretty much had the entire pool to ourselves. Sadie loves swimming and learned how to kick her feet and go underwater. She is definitely a water baby! Emmy chilled in her car seat the entire time.

I love how pretty her eyelashes look when they are all clumped up.

A few things about Emmy

She will be three weeks old on Tuesday and we are blessing her this Sunday

She only cries when I stick lotion on her after a bath, she’s gassy or hungry

She can sleep through anything

She likes to grunt and make lots of squeaky baby noises

Her closed tear duct is almost open I think (please, please, please)

She lets Sadie kiss, hug and hold her all the time

She is very sweet and content and is keeping us all very entertained and happy.

Life On the Outside

I am loving life with two little girls! Emmy is such a content and happy baby and we feel so blessed to have her in our home. The Lord knew she was exactly what our family needed!

Here is a breakdown of the day Emmy came into this world.
7am - Went to the hospital
8am - Started pitocin. I was dilated to a 1. Watched a bunch of HGTV and talked with Brian. The nurse kept bringing in homemade cookies and treats to Brian and I couldn't eat anything, but some flavored ice chips. I was dying! Despite all that I LOVED my deliver nurse, Sue! She was the same one that delivered Sadie and I am going to make sure she is there to deliver the next couple I have too.
11:40 - Dr. Leavitt broke my water. I was only dilated to a 2.
12pm - Got my epidural and took a nap.
2pm - Nurse came in and said she wanted to check my dilation, but not to expect much. When she checked I was dilated to a 9 and she started buzzing around the room getting everything ready. My dr. was in surgery, so the epidural dude came and gave me an insane amount of lidocaine because it felt like Emmy's head was already half way out.
2:50ish - I was so incredibly numb, but I pushed two times and Emmy came out at 2:54. Brian cut the umbilical cord in between taking some awesome pictures.

Let's just say it was a really easy birth and I couldn't of asked for anything more than to have such a healthy, sweet baby.

Here is the first time Sadie & Emmy met. It is amazing to me how fast Sadie has bonded with her sister. She always wants to know exactly where Emmy is and will give her a kiss and say, “there you go baby.”

Sadie holds Emmy really well (with just a little help) and wants to snuggle her baby all the time.

Emmy isn't too sure about this dude :)

Here is our only family picture at the hospital. We will have to make up for that now that we are home.

Some of the nurses were calling Emelia “Emeka” because someone’s got some really bad handwriting! I got a kick out of it though. Especially when they would say what a cute name Emeka is. Now that I think about it... it's not that bad.
A few people have said that Sadie and Emmy look so much alike, but I think these pictures kinda tell a different story.

This picture melts my heart. Sadie is really so intrigued with “her baby” and it makes me really happy that she is doing so well with all the changes going on.
Family2_35
This little old lady that worked at the hospital brought around a box of little knit hats for me to choose from. I thought that was really sweet and if I actually took Emmy anywhere I would put her in it more.

Sadie came to the hospital everyday to visit and got into a lot of trouble like pushing all the l buttons on my bed (I had no idea there were three different places to call the nurse!) Every time she left she was sure to tell Emmy goodbye over and over again.

Here we are getting ready to go home. It was really fun to dress Emelia up in something other than that boring white hospital onesie.
ComingHome_35
As soon as we got home Sadie's personality shined through (she's a major tease) and started grabbing Emmy's shoes.

My friend Kimberly made this cute car seat cover for me! I absolutely love it! I picked the fabric out from the baby boutique on 17th street (such a great store!)

Back to Life, Back to Reality

My Mom has been such a huge help to me ever since little Emmy was born. She just left today and gave me the advice to go to sleep at 9pm and take a nap whenever Sadie is down. I am already up 24 mins past 9 so I will make this short and sweet! I love being a Mom to two beautiful girls. It is so fun to see Sadie with Emmy and how much she loves giving her kisses and always wants to know where she is at. I have taken so many pictures of the girls (mostly Emmy) and can’t wait to get a moment to post more… but, until then I will be sleeping :) Thanks again Mom! Love ya!

Welcome Baby Emelia (a.k.a Emmy)

Emelia Grace Stewart was born today (February 9th) at 2:54 pm. She weighed in at 7lbs. 7oz. and was 21 inches long. She is a very calm, very aware little girl who had her eyes wide open from the get go. Both her and her Mom are doing just fine. Kelly gave me blog duty to get some pictures out, so here you go.

Enjoying the Snow

laugh

It seems like we haven't been outside enough enjoying the snow enough so we made it a point to get out a little this week. I love this picture of Brian and Sadie sledding through the shadows of the trees. We went to Freeman park and enjoyed the little hill there.

This face says it all. It has been pretty darn cold here!!!

Here is me...very pregnant and so ready to deliver this Tuesday at 7am at EIRMC. Wahoo!

I ran inside to get my camera and when I came out again Sadie was face down on the driveway. It freaked me out until I saw that she was just eating the snow. She is such a funny girl!

SadieSnowMouth_30

Brian and Sadie went down the hill one time and they both flew off the sled. Brian stopped, but Sadie kept sliding for another 40 feet because her snow suit was so slick. It was major baby abuse! I thought Sadie would have been in tears, but when Brian went to check on her she was lying on her back, staring up at the sky with a HUGE grin on her face! He picked her up and she said "Wwweeeeeeeee!"

And to conclude here is a great wipe out by Brian... he has got the volleyball roll down!

Hi

Sadie makes us watch family videos every day, which at first was cute and fun, but she really only wants to watch the videos with her in them, and since she has only been alive for 18 months there is not a lot to choose from. Here is a video that really made me laugh when I saw it though.(I think she is about eight months in this video)

It's going to be a good Valentine's Day this year...
