All You Need is Love... and Candy

Brian is so cute and always gets the girls flowers and a treat for Valentine's Day and this year was no exception. I decided to get in on the fun and bought a new shirt for each of the girls (minus Bree...sorry). Brian bought me some beautiful roses which I never got a picture of... oops!
We heart attacked Brian's car at work. It was freezing cold and I was sweaty from running and in my workout clothes. I let the girls do the inside of the car while I froze doing the outside. It was kind of a spur of the moment idea.
Sadie had preschool on Vday and came home so happy with her Valentine cards. She loved laying them all out on the ground and gorged on some candy!
Here are a few closeups of the girls Vday cards.

A few days after Vday Brian and I went out on a date to the Snakebite and shopping. That is becoming one of our new favorite restaurants. We had the yummiest appetizer that had Brie cheese in it. Good thing my Brie can be associated with such yummy food (can you tell it is getting late and I am writing loopy stuff :)

An "Extra Fun" Skiing Day with Sadie

I took Sadie skiing last month and man did she pick it up fast! We went on the rope tow hill once and then right onto a ski lift! She was such a confident skiier and would go super fast down the hill, and it scared me to death! She finally mastered snow plowing and then I felt a little better about things. We worked a lot on turning and definately need to go back again this season so she can get it down a little better.

I was so scared to teach Sadie how to ski and I'm not sure if I would have taken the leap if it hadn't been for my friend Lindsey. She is super athletic and taught her little girl to ski so it was great having her there to tell me what I needed to do with Sadie and when I needed to back off and let Sadie go down the hill by herself. Otherwise I probably would have been helping her the entire time! Sadie and Oakley get along really great too and I am so glad she has such a cute little friend!

By the end of the day Sadie was soooo tired and crying and carrying on. It was pretty sweet that she was crying about how the day was "extra fun" and that she didn't want to leave.

That night when she got home she curled up with her Dad and read The BFG. Brian wanted to start reading Sadie chapter books so that was her first one. I just finished reading her the first book from the Ivy and Bean series and Brian started reading The Magic Treehouse. Emmy kind of drifts in and out of listening and playing. It is so much nicer to read those than the short kid stories. I am so happy we are starting to transition with these older girls.

2013 St. Patrick's Day

I've gone back and label almost all of my posts, so now we can go back and see all the St. Patrick's Day or Easters and so forth. It is so crazy to go back and see that boy oh boy these girls are growing up fast!!

Happy 33rd Birthday Brian!

We did a little more birthday celebrating for Brian while we were in Utah. We had a nice date night up in SLC at Tucano's and then went to see the Harlem Globetrotters. I usually like to buy Brian Jazz tickets (that's NBA not music just to clarify haha) but I thought I'd change it up this year and try something new.
We had amazing seats...like 4th row from the floor to watch a pretty entertaining display of basketball/comedy/dancing. But next year I think I'll stick to buying him tickets to see a game.
We were home on Brian's actual birthday and always throw him a superhero party. He is such a super Dad so it is fitting...right?!?!
The girls got to the candles first so he didn't get to make a wish this year, but we are all just wishing that he gets done with school soon so we can have him all to ourselves.
There are so many things to love about Brian, but here are just a few to get a flavor of how awesome he is...
1. He would rather spend time with his family than anything in the entire world...seriously.
2. He is reading the girls a chapter book called, The BFG every night and always find new was to bond with them even with being so busy.
3. He somehow figured out a way to juggle going to work 40 hours a week, school two nights a week and finishing our basement last year. We are still trying to figure out how he did that. Must have been divine intervention (and a nagging pregnant wife).
4. He is so frugal and modest and drives our piece of hud car (that we bought when we were first married) to work every day just to have one less bill. He is so tall and barely fits in that thing. One day we will buy him the blue truck of his dreams.
5. He'll watch chick flicks with me and complains when I won't cuddle with him. I think it's cute that he's a cuddler.
6. He reads scriptures with us every morning and makes sure we say family prayer.
7. He got a 96% on his last paper, and has gotten really good grades the last three years of his MBA program.
8. He cooks dinner more than I do and everything is always delicious, except for the time he burned the Papa Murphy's pizza..haha. Just had to throw that in there for a laugh.
WE LOVE YOU BRI!

Happy #3 Birthday Emmy!

Emmy has really turned a new leaf in the last few weeks. She has just been sweeter and hasn't thrown nearly as many fits as she as the last 6 months of her life. Halleluiah for being 3. Here are a few things that makes Emmy her unique little perfect self.
1. She is friendly and waves at complete strangers
2. Emmy has the best expressions
3. She always helps Sadie feel safe going downstairs
4. Emmy just loves being outdoors and will just venture outside all by herself
5. She loves to learn and just soaks up knowledge
6. Emmy loves to help me cook in the kitchen
7. She loves all animals, but especially dogs and cats
8. Emmy loves helping me load the dishwasher and folds the washcloths
Emmy really loves the movie, How to Train Your Dragon, and that would have been a fun party, but it is so hard to find party supplies for that movie right now, so we took Emmy to Zurchers to pick out a pinata and decided we base the party on whatever she chose. She found a rainbow pinata and likes the movie, Wizard of Oz too so it all worked out in the end. We got a Chinese noodle dish from Mings for dinner and listened to the soundtrack from the Wizard of Oz while we ate. My friend let us borrow her Dorothy costume and Emmy felt super special = mission accomplished.

Emmy sleeps with toothless and likes to fly him around the house.

Party in Utah - Emmy is 3
We drove to Utah the night before Emmy's birthday so she could wake up and "happy place" which is at one of the Grandma's houses, so it was totally the perfect place to be on her birthday. This picture is probably the only time Emmy cried her entire birthday which is a vast improvement over last years melt down fest.
My Mom sure knows how to throw a party. There was an insane amount of food, the place was decorated so festive (thank you Lisa too). I felt like I copped out and didn't have to do much work at all.
Cousins came including cute Grayson!
I wish I would have taken more pictures of everyone that came. It was a great birthday for Emmy!
