Craters of the Moon

_DSC3945_30

Last Saturday we went on a little adventure to Craters of the Moon. Sadie loved running on the trails and picking the flowers (oops, don’t tell the park rangers about that one).

_DSC3906_30

We had a nice picnic to start the day provided by a local grocery store in Arco, the first city to run on atomic power...pretty neat stuff!

_DSC3899_30

We only took the stroller on one trail and this one had so many divets and was really narrow that we almost tipped a few times. Sadie kept exclaiming “weee fun Daddy!” Sadie really just wanted to be out walking around anyways.

By the time we got Emmy out of the car and into the baby backpack Sadie was halfway up this trail. It was pretty steep and she marched up there with as much enthusiasm as a baby could have. She has come a long ways and I can’t believe she is going to be two in a week!

This is really the only wild life we saw there. This little dude was running up and around the rocks on our hike to the caves. He followed us most of the way there.

_DSC3994_30

The hike to the caves was about two miles round trip and Sadie walked almost the entire thing. She got distracted a lot and Brian was so patient to just let her go at her own pace. This was at the end of the day and we had skipped Sadie’s nap so she was running low on toddler fuel! It was surprising though how happy and upbeat she was most of the day. She kept us entertained singing “This Old Man”, the “ABC song”, and a medley of songs from “Little Einsteins”.

Beauty Cave

This is a rock...not to be mistaken as oil and pavement (that is what Brian’ thought it was :)

We got back and celebrated my birthday with an icecream cake from Cold Stone and birthday presents. I had a wonderful day. I woke up to balloons and streamers and Sadie ran over to me and said “Happy Birthday Mommy” (it melted my heart, I love how much she talks). Brian made me a refreshing breakfast of blueberry pancakes with a strawberry puree and I got to sleep in pretty late that morning. Brian is working on making me two really cool birthday presents so I will post some pictures once he gets them done. No pressure Bri!

Taste of Idaho

_DSC3477_30

We went to Taste of Idaho a couple of weeks ago and although it was cold and windy we still had lots of good things to eat, which kept us happy. Among some of the best restaurants were TGIFriday’s, Hard Hat, Cheeseburger Factory, and Cafe Rio and this little bakery that I can’t remember the name of.

It was so nice to have a date without the “chickadees” (that’s my new name for the “babies”). I was so surprised with how many people brought their kids because it really was such a miserable day! This little girl was in front of us in one of the lines and I just had to snap of pic of her. What a doll!

I have always gotten the biggest goosebumps when I get cold...so here they are in their full glory! I promise my skin is not this pasty anymore. We had a fun weekend of being outdoors running and playing in a softball tournament and I have a nice little base tan now. Bring on the SUN!

Emmy had her 4 month check up this past Monday and here are her stats...

Weight 15lbs. 3oz (80%), Length 26 1/2” (99%), Head Cirm 16 3/4” (86%)

_DSC3294_2_30

Just this past week Emmy’s personality has really emerged. She gets really happy and excited whenever she is going to be picked up, eats, is tickled, and sees Sadie. She laughs and coos all the time now too. She loves her jumper/saucer thing, and likes rolling all over the floor to get to her toys. She is already wearing her 6-9 month clothing too. We are still working on the sleep department. I think we may just have to move her out of the room so we can get some shut eye around here!

_DSC3315_2_30

I LOVE this baby cleavage!

_DSC3371_2_30

Sadie worked hard on getting her Daddy’s Father’s Day card ready. We pulled out the paint and stamps and went to town. She even helped me pick Brian out a water filter, handed it to the cashier, gave the lady my credit card and signed the receipt. Sadie LOVES being a helper!

_DSC3444_1_30

She also loves being dirty!

_DSC3452_2_30

Another thing she loves is eating corn on the cob, but probably her all time favorite love right now is being “naked”. She keeps her diaper on, but she thinks her and Emmy should be naked at all times and works hard to take Emmy’s clothes off whenever I am not looking!

Is it June already?!?

DSC_0015_301

This funny little girl is four months now and when Sadie is napping we like to play on the ground and she lets out happy shrieks that have yet to wake up Sadie thankfully!

Here is tooth #2. Emmy is really quite the advanced baby for pushing these teeth out so early. Right before a new tooth breaks the skin she has one night of major crying. It has reminded us of how Sadie use to be every night. Emmy is still a very easy going girl!

We finally were able to bring Sadie’s bike out of the basement and ride it around the cul-de-sac this week. She is such a big girl that she doesn't want me to push her around on it. She hasn’t quite got the feet to pedal idea, but our driveway has a nice slope that lets her pick up enough speed to ride it to the middle of the street. Just enough to be in a little danger. I am learning that toddlers like that sort of stuff!

My friend took our family pictures this last weekend and she did such a great job. It was SO hard getting Sadie in a good mood and getting smiles out of her, but with a little help from Grandma and some M&M’s we captured some of Sadie’s fake smiles :) Thanks again Kristy! Here is a couple of my favorites...

Memorial Day Weekend

_DSC3042re

This weekend was full of fun things to do for Sadie. We went swimming at the aquatic center, played at Westside Elementary, Sadie played at Leo’s Place for the first time (and of course loved it), and saw lots of Grandma and Papa (two of her favorite people). It was pretty windy so Emmy and I hung out in the car and she laughed so hard when I sang “Crazy” some oldie tune to her. She thinks her mama is funny!

_DSC3049troy

We took Sadie to a few places to take pictures and this is her new fake smile where she juts her chin out. It is going to take a lot of effort on my part to get some decent pictures of this girl for the next little while. She is so full of energy and the only place I can get her to sit and take a picture is high up in a tree where she is stuck and can’t get away!

_DSC2949re

_DSC3025re

On Memorial Day we drove to Aston, ID and saw Brian’s grandpa’s grave. He fought in the Korean War and a couple years back we got to see a bunch of old pictures and hear grandpa stories.

_DSC3062re

_DSC3073re

Then we drove to Mesa Falls and Sadie thought the stairs where her own personal jungle gym. We had to keep a close eye on her because she is a climber/runner/deathtifying stuntgirl.

These two wore us out! They slept the entire drive back and we had a nice quiet time to chat about where we want to get away to. Now we just have to get Emmy on solid and be done nursing... so that will be only be another 6 to 7 more months. Geesh!!! It was a great weekend!
