Last Saturday we went on a little adventure to Craters of the Moon. Sadie loved running on the trails and picking the flowers (oops, don’t tell the park rangers about that one).
We had a nice picnic to start the day provided by a local grocery store in Arco, the first city to run on atomic power...pretty neat stuff!
We only took the stroller on one trail and this one had so many divets and was really narrow that we almost tipped a few times. Sadie kept exclaiming “weee fun Daddy!” Sadie really just wanted to be out walking around anyways.
By the time we got Emmy out of the car and into the baby backpack Sadie was halfway up this trail. It was pretty steep and she marched up there with as much enthusiasm as a baby could have. She has come a long ways and I can’t believe she is going to be two in a week!
This is really the only wild life we saw there. This little dude was running up and around the rocks on our hike to the caves. He followed us most of the way there.
The hike to the caves was about two miles round trip and Sadie walked almost the entire thing. She got distracted a lot and Brian was so patient to just let her go at her own pace. This was at the end of the day and we had skipped Sadie’s nap so she was running low on toddler fuel! It was surprising though how happy and upbeat she was most of the day. She kept us entertained singing “This Old Man”, the “ABC song”, and a medley of songs from “Little Einsteins”.
Beauty Cave
This is a rock...not to be mistaken as oil and pavement (that is what Brian’ thought it was :)
We got back and celebrated my birthday with an icecream cake from Cold Stone and birthday presents. I had a wonderful day. I woke up to balloons and streamers and Sadie ran over to me and said “Happy Birthday Mommy” (it melted my heart, I love how much she talks). Brian made me a refreshing breakfast of blueberry pancakes with a strawberry puree and I got to sleep in pretty late that morning. Brian is working on making me two really cool birthday presents so I will post some pictures once he gets them done. No pressure Bri!
