SIMPLIFY

It is a very rare thing for Brian to miss church, but today Brian was hit with a killer head cold so after sacrament I sent Sadie and him home. He is in bed asleep now where he will probably stay for the next two days. Poor guy! This is the very first picture I ever took with our little Nikon camera. I didn't even remember taking it, but when I sent my camera into the shop for repairs last week I took the memory card out and I guess the camera has a built in memory where this showed up. It looks spooky with the tree in the background. I like it.

Sadie and I put all of our Fall/Halloween decorations up this weekend and my house looks a little cluttered I think. Adding all the baby contraptions and decorations kinda does this to a home. So I have been thinking a lot about the word: SIMPLIFY and have tried to apply it to different areas of my life.


First on the list was my blog reader alerts. Back in my 8-5 working days I got pretty bored and was on the computer all day so I found a lot of blogs that helped me pass the time. Now that I stay at home and have more control over my time I have wiped out all of the random blogs and now just keep up with the lovely people that read this blog and a few other photography and crafty blogs.

The next area to simplify is going to be the basement. After seeing my neighbors immaculate basement I realized that for a couple that has been married less than five years we have accumulated a lot of stuff! So that is what I will be doing this next week in case any one cares. I will be cleaning out my basement, reading Breaking Dawn and taking care of a sick husband. wIsH Me LuCk!

The Middle of Nowhere

Somewhere between the Parade of Homes houses we pulled over to stretch our legs. The sky was looking very threatening on Saturday and we crossed our fingers that our basement wasn't flooding back in IF (which it did a little.) I forget each year how tiring it can be to look through so many homes, but I got some fun decorating ideas so I will consider it time well spent. We ended the evening at Outback Steakhouse. I had never been there before and was very impressed with the food and service. I got the appetizer plate with fish, steak and shrimp and it was mighty tasty. It was a fun way to spend the last weekend of the summer.

Rocking Out Rexburg Style

Brian and I have been to three concerts together... all of them being Ryan Shupe and the Rubberband (aren't we lame!) But their music is awesome and the concerts are always such a blast (I feel like I am back in high school using words like awesome and blast, but it is so true!) We dressed Sadie up all cute and dropped her off with the grandparents to enjoy a nice night up in Rexburg.

Brian got us amazing seats on the second row right smack dab in the middle, so if there was going to be any moshing, we were going to be right in the middle of it. That is totally a joke because the concerts in Rexburg are a little predictable: you sit during the concert until the end where there is a standing ovation and the band comes out and plays one last song. Nothing like the concerts I went to growing up where you stand the entire two hours and are smashed as close to the stage as possible while everyone is jumping up and down. I really prefer the Rexburg style concert any day.

I love dressing Sadie up for church with the matching headband and dress, but she just behaves so much better if she is swaddled in a blanket the entire three hours. Therefore no one ever sees how cute she looks! So, this Sunday at the end of sacrament I decided to unwrap her to show off her cute dress. BIG MISTAKE... or was it. At this point she decided to start freaking out crying which ultimately drew more attention than I anticipated. My sweet team teacher offered to teach the lesson while I hung out in the woman's lounge feeding Sadie and chatting with a cute new lady that moved into the ward. It was great to just be a big slacker!

Sadie Lady Is Two Months Old!

Yesterday I took Sadie in for her two month checkup and she is 10 pounds 13 oz (50th percentile), 23" long (76th percentile) and her head circumference is 16" (90th percentile) so my baby has got a big head! I was preparing myself for one sad baby after getting her shots, but I was amazed she only fussed for a few seconds and then went right to sleep. I thought, "Wow, Sadie has a high tolerance of pain!" Later I realized the nurse had given her some sugary liquid right before the shots that magically made everything not hurt. I am all for that. It was still sad though to watch her get stuck with needles and see the three band aids on her thigh.

Brian is really great with Sadie and loves to have really long in depth conversations with her. It seems like she makes a new noise everyday which is keeping us really entertained.

Eastern Idaho State Fair

We went to the fair on Thursday night with Brian's parents. Brian hadn't been to the fair for over ten years which is funny because I have been the last three years working at the Union booth or slicing bread for Great Harvest. This was by far the best time because I finally had a chance to go with Brian and ride some rides. We bought just enough tokens for us to ride two of the big rides and then one of the kiddie ones. I think everyone else around us bought the wrist bracelets for unlimited rides, but there is no way our bodies could handle that!
Looking at this picture I feel crazy for even riding this death trap. We were the whitest and the oldest people in every line we stood in (that should have given us a clue). It is a miracle we didn't puke, but we sorta planned it that way and left the good eats until the end.

As we walked around the fair we could hear Poison playing off in the distance "Highway to Hell!" We like to expose Sadie to the finer things in life :)

Here's Brian and Sadie standing in front of the huge turkey leg vendor. I really wanted a turkey leg, but instead opted for a well rounded dutch oven dinner including beef, potatoes, and beans. Good stuff! Next year though, I am throwing nutrition to the wind and I will get me my turkey leg!

Brian's parents are the coolest! They are always willing to take care of their fussy granddaughter and we are indeed grateful. We ended the night with a delicious funnel cake because I think it is against the law to leave the fair without buying one.
